Zone Defence

TV Series, 35mm, Color, Stereo | 16x45’ | 2007, 2008

Synopsis

In “Zone Defense” we meet Detective Charitos on vacation in one of the islands in the Aegean Sea. He prefers his dictionary to the crowded beach and no matter how hard he tries he can’t hide his repulsion for his wife’s relatives despite their eager hospitality. But then an earthquake comes to his rescue… Because of this earthquake a dead man’s body comes to the surface and the local authorities ask for his help… Instead of continuing his boring holidays, Charitos brings back to Athens the body of the unknown men and starts investigating what seems to be a mysterious murder. Since he is one of the very few detectives working in mid August, he soon gets one more assignment: another murder! The first victim is a John Do, but the second one is a celebrity. Owner of a few night clubs and fancy restaurants, he is well known to almost everybody. Still, no matter how well they know him, no one seems eager to talk about him… Charitos faces a wall of silence! As he starts unfolding the mystery of the two murders, Charitos will find himself sinking deep into the dark world of Athens’ night-life, third league football teams, and opinion poll companies… At the same time his quest –which, by the way, will lead him to verge of love and just a breath away from death!- reveals to the viewer what really lies behind the shiny Olympic constructions; Charitos’ sharp eye points out –with a unique sense of bitter humor- the true face of modern life in Athens…
